D2D: Small Steps, Big Change: Cleanliness Story of Block SK Pora in Budgam
(BDO SK Pora Syed Jaasirah Syedain (JKAS) along with her team) Block SK Pora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district has seen a major transformation in sanitation and waste management because of the ongoing community involvement and door-to-door (D2D) initiatives as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin. What started as a response to long-standing issues has grown into a community-focused movement for cleanliness and responsible waste management. Challenge Before the intervention The block faced several problems like scattered garbage, open dumping, legacy waste accumulation, and a lack of public awareness about waste segregation and hygiene practices.
